I was so excited for the summer of 2020 because I simply needed a getaway. Reservations had been made for my sorority's nation convention...AND THEN CAME COVID-19. I prayed that things would improve for the sake of my "girls trip", but eventually I got the notification (which I knew was coming) that a gathering of that magnitude was not going to happen. So, guess what I did. I PACKED MY BAGS ANYWAY!!! Along with my Soror Alicia, I took a flight to a cute little AirBnB for some serious relaxation. The one thing I never gave a second though was my attire. Sister Stacie was going to make alllllllll of her vacay clothing. On day one, I wore the cutest maxi dress that I made using the 'Summer Basics' pattern by Love Notions. Green is my favorite color, so this floral stretch knit was a no brainer when I spotted it in the store.
Although I loved the dress, I wanted to add a little more flare. Using my scraps, I cut 4 extra wide pieces to resemble banners. I gathered each piece and pinned them ~8 inches above the hem of the dress.

The end result was an asymmetrical drape that made me want to twirl! I painted my face as much as that mask would allow and hit the town!!! Stay tuned for day 2... ~SSS
